Government Affairs & Policy (GAP) Committee Mission
The BIO IT Coalition Government Affairs and Policy Committee provides Coalition members, elected officials, Bioscience and Information Technology and international organizations with current information on legislative and regulatory activities in the United States and abroad to better influence leadership decisions affecting the convergence of the Bioscience and Information Technology disciplines and how that convergence might lead to improvements in healthcare.

The BIO IT Coalition and President Obama's Policy Initiatives
The BIO IT Coalition membership has knowledge and expertise about how to use Information Technology for the advancement and betterment of healthcare practices and management. With the arrival of the Obama administration, we expect many new initiatives and programs will be developed in these areas. To be able to influence the direction of these policies, our members and colleagues must first understand what the Obama administration is considering. Therefore, the GAP committee leadership encourages you to read about President Obama's thoughts on the "Issues" section of his website: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/. The areas (accessible from the "Issues" tab) of prime concern to the BIO IT Coalition include: Economy; Education; Healthcare; Technology; and the "Science" section of Additional Issues. We encourage all who wish to participate in the GAP committee to become familiar with this information.
