"The State of Healthcare & Medical Technology in 2028"

Carnegie Institution

The BIO IT Coalition's 7th annual conference will examine the path that healthcare will take over the next twenty years and the role of art and creativity in bringing about new ways of thinking and collaboration.  The all day meeting will engender a dialogue to guide leading scientists, technologists, business people, lawyers, regulatory and policy experts, economic development specialists, educators and others in attendance towards creating the future of healthcare and medical technology.  The challenges of the genomic revolution are vast and provide many opportunities for change and improvement.

Bio/IT industry opportunities and responsibilities to be discussed will include how to:

  • use the human genome map to speed discovery of genesrelated to common illnesses
  • create new paradigms for pharmaceutical and biotech companies as blockbuster drug patents expire
  • create new paradigms for pharmaceutical and biotech companies as blockbuster drug patents expire
  • manage vast amounts of healthcare information
  • build a competent, creative and skilled workforce
  • integrate science, business, law, ethics, and community standards

The BIO IT Coalition will examine the information/bioscience revolution since the Human Genome Project was completed and, more importantly, how to manage the vast information which resulted and how to diagnose, predict and prevent disease in the future. We also wish to set goals for what the medical and healthcare technology landscape will be like in the year 2028.
